Could running a car without a plug wire attached cause the catalytic converter to become clogged?

My 95 Honda accord was running like crap and back firing. I had to be somewhere important. Now all 4 plugs are black, dry and sooty. Car will start then immediately stall. Do you think i killed the catalytic converter by driving half an hour like this. If yes are they difficult to install?Could running a car without a plug wire attached cause the catalytic converter to become clogged?
Yes by taking the converter loose You can tell that it is plugged up but by knocking the guts out of the converter and driving the car on the road is a violation of the law and can get You a BIG fine from the law.Could running a car without a plug wire attached cause the catalytic converter to become clogged?
Yes, If there is an ignition misfire, the fuel burns in the catalyst instead of the engine and overheats it. Take the exhaust loose/apart upstream of the Cat. or unscrew the oxygen sensor, if the car starts and runs now, the Cat. is plugged. You might get a universal Cat cheaper but you have to cut/weld. A stock Cat. will cost more but should just bolt on. If you just knock the guts out of your bad Cat. and put it back on, the car will run fine, but won't pass a smog test.Could running a car without a plug wire attached cause the catalytic converter to become clogged?
just replace plugs and yes they welded on most cars an dcost like 250 bucks but a few hours running wouldnt plugged one up takes a like 6 yrs
my plugs got black like that and my trouble was the 02 sensor.
