Is it good to straight pipe your catalytic converter in your car?

My catalytic converter have gone bad in my 2004 ford taurus, I have been told to straight pipe them but im afraid that it will just cause more damage then help. I was wondering what straight piping my car would do to the engine? and does it ever really help to straight pipe it?Is it good to straight pipe your catalytic converter in your car?
It would cause your vehicle to be very loud. It is illegal to run a car without a catylitic converter when it came with it originally. It would also effect your MPG due to the oxygen sensors not getting the same readings as stock. Is it good to straight pipe your catalytic converter in your car?
Is it good?

Try, it is *very* illegal. Like violation of *Federal* emissions laws. But hey, it's your a$$ not your lame-brained buddy or whoever gave you the bright idea.

How do you know your cat has gone bad?

If you pull the cat, you will totally screw up the O2 sensing on the vehicle and who knows what type of fuel mixture the computer will generate. There is typically at least one O2 sensor prior to the cat and one after it. The two sensors compare to one another and from this info the engine management computer calculates a fuel mixture. Is it good to straight pipe your catalytic converter in your car?
I don't believe so
