My catalytic converter have gone bad in my 2004 ford taurus, I have been told to straight pipe them but im afraid that it will just cause more damage then help. It would cause your vehicle to be very loud. It is illegal to run a car without a catylitic converter when it came with it originally. It would also effect your MPG due to the oxygen sensors not getting the same readings as stock.Is it good to straight pipe your catalytic converter in your car?

If you pull the cat, you will totally screw up the O2 sensing on the vehicle and who knows what type of fuel mixture the computer will generate. There is typically at least one O2 sensor prior to the cat and one after it. The two sensors compare to one another and from this info the engine management computer calculates a fuel mixture.Is it good to straight pipe your catalytic converter in your car?
