I have a 2006 gmc duramax desiel and i want to remove my catalytic converter to get more horsepowerHow much horsepower will i gain on a desiel by removing Catalytic converter?
if the truck was manufactured with one then it is illegal to remove it and more so than that most vehicles today have the exhaust system specifically designed to create an optimal amount of back pressure in the engine. removing the converter will cause you to lose this and besides voiding any manufacturers warranty it could and probably will cause you to lose fuel mileage and a drop in horse power
Some older trucks dont have them, after a certain year they are required. There is a fine if you are caught without your cat, but who is going to check? When I removed mine, the muffler shop told me they couldn't do it when i was redoing my exhaust, so I cut it off myself at home, then took it up there without it.. they put my straight pipes on after that. You will NOT gain any power by doing this, if the truck is under warranty it will void the warranty.

if its stock little to none, but you will gain a lot when its burning off, along with more mpg.
