Will changing a different catalytic converter make the exhaust sound different?

My car's catalytic converter is going out, so I'm thinking to buy an aftermarket one to replace it.

I have an aftermarket exhaust system now as well, and I like the sound that it makes. So i just wondering if i change the catalytic converter, will it effect the sound of the exhaust system? thanks!|||Not really. Cat's are close to the exhaust manifold and are designed not to impede exhaust flow. Mufflers pipes and resonators affect sound.|||Yes, it's possible if you opt for a performance converter. Cause it will allow for more air flow which means more power. You can opt for a stock converter then it shouldn't change the exhaust note.|||slightly unless you get the same cat you have now|||either get the one you have now which is probably the factory one or you can get a better flowing one that will allow your exhaust to open up a little but will probably make your ride a little louder, they are called high flow catalyic converters and are sold by summit racing.com.
